the 1st game is disturbing to see Black, who was up material and position, lose.    I believe 24......Kh8 was the culprit -- giving White incentive to build up forces against Black's King.    How about 24 …….Kf7 with idea of transferring King to the safer Center or  Q-side ?    any comments on that idea or this game in particular ?

I believe 28....a4 was the big mistake - this allowed 29) Rg5 to win black's queen

why are you reposting

JonathanB -- sure, 28......a4 is a major blunder...…..and so 28......Rg8 looks necessary to blunt White's attempt at initiative on the K-side  and maintain an edge.

I still like 24...… K-f7 over h8 -- though both moves allow his Rook to contest the open "g" file.

You do realize JonathanB IS John Brosnan, right?

chessperson222222 -- no, I did not realize it.     but what does that matter, as my comments would be the same.    so far our posts have been objective.

Jonathan did show one should always look at using the resources of one's position, always have the wheels spinning in one's head for counterplay -- especially when a little down in material.     Persistence pays off !

TwoMove

28....a4 turned the whole game, winning to lost. White did well to preserve hacking chances though.

Yeah, I was looking at this game as it was played, and after white played Rg5, I realized that black was simply lost- although he did try to put up the best resistance before Bxf2??.
