Hi, I am a 1500 Rated player and have been studying from Franklin K Young's four Books: The Minor Tactics of Chess, The Major Tactics of Chess, The Grand Tactics of Chess and Chess Strategetics. All of these can be googled by title, in their entirety, and saved to your Favorites, to utilize at any time. Young showed how chess can be played using military, mathematical tactics and strategy. So far it has increased my chess playing ability, and I would like to share a recent game that I played entirely according to Young's theories.

The following annotated game was played against a very weak player, in closest adherence the mathematical, battlefield principles advocated in Young's four Books mentioned above:

“A complete and consistent disposition of all the  pieces in the opening of a game, preliminary to the play of the mid-game, is called a Primary Base.  In the construction of a primary base it is, therefore, necessary to effect the formation of a Pawn Integral, and to combine with it consistent units of all the superior pieces” (Minor Tactics, pp 124-25).

Young is more confusing than insightful.

There's no shortage of better authors or books.
