General commentary please?

What do you guys think of this game, i'm "colabomb" (white).

5. d3 looks a little awkward. I'm leaning toward 5. Bb3 as an alternative.

Your comment on 8. ...Nxd5 confuses me. If you meant "lost a piece" as in getting behind in material, I don't see that until 15. Qd3??. If you meant "lost a piece" as in trading it off, you were still fairly equal after the trade.

18. Re4 isn't good because he can just play 18. ...Rxd3.

I don't know what made your opponent take your rook on move 22, but he did, and you got back into this.

36. Ke1?? lost immediately, and I don't know why you moved away from the pawn. You would still have a lost game after 36. Kc1, but it would have taken longer, giving you chances for a stalemate.

You both made VERY bad mistakes. What's up with hanging your queens???

3... d6 isn't great, as it hampers the development of Black's kingside bishop.  3... Bc5 would have been better.

5. d3 isn't good, and not just because it looks awkward.  After 5... Bxc4; 6. dxc4, you've got doubled pawns and no pawns on the central d-file.  5. Bxe6 was probably your best choice, as it gives black doubled pawns (albeit they're central pawns).  5. Bb3 is slower than 5. Bxe6.

6. Nc3 was probably better than 6. Be3, as it allows 6... d4;  7. exd4 Nxd4;  8. Nxd4 Bxd4;  9. Bxd4 Qxd4; 10. c4, when you'll have an awesome dark-squared bishop, as all of your important pawns will be on light squares!

10. h4 weakens your king's fortress.  10. Bxe7 might have been better.

All right, now I'm tired of analyzing.  But it looked like an interesting, if not extremely well-played, game.

Well played? If you're above 1000, I expect you not to hang your queen to a knight in the opening...

This is such a stupid thing to fight about.

That line was WHY I said it was awkward. White's position definitely isn't ideal after that line, and I chose to call the move awkward for that reason.

I'm sorry.  I think of some things, such as the Sicilian Najdorf, as looking awkward if one doesn't know too much about the Sicilian, but as being quite different from a bad move.

I personally only use the word awkward in a chess context if I am describing a less-than-ideal move. If you want to extend its usage, that's fine with me.

morteza_rah

it was sharp but lots of blunders

TheMoonwalker

I didn't quite get the reason for your queen sac...

johntheChristian

The queen wasn't an accident, just an old fashioned mistake :P

shuttlechess92

may I suggest 4. d4? it weakens black's pawn structure while bringing in your black bishop.

bart225

Why do you ask ? Your # 15 move was a big blunder and cost you the game .
