this is a simple KIA like structure, nothing special. you might try to push f4 earlier like, on move 3, but that would lead you to the Kings gambit, seems to me that you don't like the kings gambit, if you don't like the kings gambit, why even start to dabble with the Vienna game? play the KIA from the begining.
in this game several of the moves you and your opponent made in the opening weren't quite accurate, you can try playing the KIA, but don't force your will on the Vienna game just because you feel like it.
Can I get FEEDBACK for this opening? It is a type of Vienna game that I have been experimenting with lately. The goal of it is to play f4 and then possibly f5. I have not run into any major problems with it, but I am unsure as to how to respond to an early d5 by my opponent.
i.e. 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. g3 d5
