The second time, I just did not notice that the Black Queen could block the Rook's check by moving to D8. Everyone is talking about QB3, but they ignore the fact that Black would just kill the Queen with the Black Bishop.

NC6 looks good for a M1....but, I've gotten it wrong twice.

Qb3#, because the bishop on g8 is pinned by the rook on h8, thus allowing Qb3# M1. Both knights are protected by the bishops in the corner so no need to worry about them.

The only mate in one I can see is Qb3#, because the white bishops are on the bottom right corner defend both of the knights and stop the king's movement to a8, a7, b7, c8, and c7 so right now the king can't move. The black bishop is pinned so it cannot move from its current spot, but the white queen is pinned in a way that allows movement to b3 which mates in one.
