Intuition or Calculation? Help me analyze :-)

OK with a draw against a stronger player but in some critical moments I was kindof overwhelmed with calculation so I cracked and ended up going by intuition and ofc going for the wrong option.

How do I remain composed in tense moments next time? any tips?.. And also why when I fall back to intuition it's always the wrong move lol

Thx in advance :-)

overall a great game by the both of you, he missed stuff and you did too, but a cool game tho . your problem is that you got a bit scared of going for a win because you were stressed about the pressure he had on you, but he didn't have any checks on move 35(Kc7) , and it was your moment to get the knight into the game by playing Ne6 to give more checks and possibly mate. and i totally get it, playing higher rated opponent's is challenging and intimidating but very informative and helpful as well

Hey thank you my friend for reviewing the game! your insights are always helpful!

Another moment I was disappointed with was when he played Nd3+ I went for Kd1 instead of Kf1 which was wrong. Visually Kf1 looks scary because of his queen on the long diagonal.

In the game Kd1 basically lost, and Kf1 was safe, but how do I overcome this wrong intuition?

As for the opportunity to win in the end, both of us were low on time so It's impossible to find such moves when down to seconds... and I think the draw was fair...

it is generally really difficult to find the best move under pressure because of decision paralysis, you will have more than one option to go for and you can't decide which one is better so you just move, and that's not intuition , that's called making a move before you can't make any , and that happens with me all the time especially under time pressure. while intuition is going for a sacrifice even though you are not entirely sure if it works or not just because you have a gut feeling that it will work and that's intuition in it's finest form, and to improve it you can practice puzzle storm or any kind of puzzles where you have to make a move( a good move) very fast and you have to get as much correct puzzles as possible and that will surely help making your intuition sharper and of course help win you are under time pressure.

Great advice thx!!!

But what about defensive intuition like 26. Kf1 vs Kd1

Or maybe its better to focus on 23. Ncxe5!?

At this point I couldn't calculate any further than 25. Nxg4! and I'm just better. I couldn't at all see his idea that the Knight was headed to d3, so I psychologically reacted with a blunder soon after..

I think this happens alot to me where my opponent plays a mysterious sac, not great objectively but contains an interesting idea, I completely miss that idea burning time trying to find it, then panic and I help them make it work... Would love to fix that somehow

Well first of all, you need to play the opening properly as you have structural mistakes, onwards in the game I noticed you're missing some good chances like free material, I'll leave the moves for you to find out and also you're playing passive and ensure king safety at all times which is why you faced most of the trouble in that game.

thank you

which structural opening issues? i actually analyzed closed structures with a master

but i guess i was thrown off tension remaining in the center for a while (no c5-c4 or cxd4.. until very late )
