was playing a daily game on an old account, it was getting feisty, really was thinking things over for once, so I thought about making a move, then triple checked with an engine, saw that the move I was gonna make was the correct one, the I played it, then i had a winning position, about to checkmate. then I stopped caring about th3 game.

What would Jesus do?

Crack the whip? Speak in a parable, tell Peter that Satan's speaking through him, then feed me a fish?

If what you are trying to say is that you used engine to confirm your move in an ongoing game. It is real cheating.

Lit

Checking engine in any way in an ongoing match is cheating, even only for seeing the evaluation of who's position is currently better. no matter if you play the move you decided to make before checking the engine.

because just seeing the evaluation can affect how you play, to be reckless or careful, defensive or attacking...

I think that is not a real person, only a spambot, using a mishmask of biblical and chess vocabulary.

"if i opened up an engine in the middle of a game and used the cpu to see the best move options, is that cheating?" ummmmmmm wow okay

Adding: If they play a move and then check it then it's also possible that the move recommended would still be a top move on the next turn as well and give them unfair insight.

Yes, you cheated.   Don't do that.

People are too quick to judge. You wanted to make sure you were doing the right move, that is totally acceptable.

It would be like chastizing someone for taking a calculator into a math exam.

Looking at an engine for anything while playing a game is considered cheating I think
