Analysis please! I want to know whether I could have drawn this game.

Paristar

Hi Chessgrandmaster2001,

I think the game was in the opening and middlegame equal. We exchanged pieces and reached the endgame with the minor pieces. I start with move 26. here you get an isolated pawn by ...gxf6, why not taking with the bishop 26...Bxf6 and your bishop is better placed and makes pressure to d4. By 27.Kf1 I wanted to activate the King for the endgame but had to be careful because the two bishops are very strong and dangerous. At move 31 I took the knight, because i don't wanted to move the poor placed knight and lose a tempo. Then I tried to find  a path for the knight to attack the weak pawn at c6 which can only defended by one of the bishops. After 37.Nd6 I saw that i can play Nd8-Na7 and win the pawn because the darksquared bishop can't stop Na7 because of my pawn at c5. After I won 1 pawn I think I have advantage and a winning position. At move 44 I played Nb5 which was a bad move  and my advantage slipped. At move 46. I missed the move Nc7 which would bring me one more  extra pawn and two past pawns and I think a very comfortable position. 49.Na3 was another weak move from me . The Knight is bad placed here. 50. c6 wasn't a good move, the queening square is covered by the bishop and the black King is near. After 50...f4 i was suprised that i can not win the bishop by 51 h4, because after fxg3 the pawn is unstoppable. At move 52 I started the king march to b7, the destination for my king to help promoting my c-pawn.At move 55 the position is equal after i had for 2 times a winning position. But at move 56. Chessgrandmaster2001 made a decisive mistake. Be3  wins a pawn but loses the game. While black is wasting time  to win a pawn my king goes straight to his dream square b7 and  black can not stop the c7 pawn move followed by c8Q. Black should play 56...Bg5-d8 and stops the c7 advance and the game is drawn. So and the end I was lucky that my opponent made this mistake and I won this game after the 3rd time I had a winning position.

If something is wrong i have writte here, please correct me.

Actually, I thought quite a lot about the isolated pawn thing. I actually wanted to make a passed pawn on the d file.

And I agree with everything else! Be3 was a terrible mistake! But anyway, thanks for the game! I really enjoyed it! Smile

56... Kc2 57. Kc5 Bb2 58. Kxd5 Bc3 and I cant se how White Can win. For example 59. Ke5 H5 60. Be8 h4 61. Bd7 Bb2 62. D5 Be5.

So wasn't it supposed to be drawn?

I dont know. But in my analysis it is hard for White If he want to win. ( if White Can win)

I think you could draw because the opposite bishop, but at move 56, you should had to prevent Kb6, for example with Kc7.

With Kc5 white wins d pawn too, so it could seem a suicide but since the black dark squared bishop doesn't leave the diagonal h2-b8 and the black king stays on d6, white is not able to advance d pawn to d6.

Black realizes a blockade on the dark squares and I think it is draw. Black h pawn must be on a dark square so it can't be taken by opponent bishop. If white king try to chase him, just defend it with black bishop, since white doesn't control anymore d6. I just can't see how white could win!

So I just threw away another drawn endgame. :(
