My first Reti game...

I just tried the Reti opening and it seems to be pretty solid. However, I think I was  little weak in the middle any suggestions for improvement?

Although I won, I stilll think I was in a worse position when black resigned. Any suggestions?

11. e4 weakens your dark squares but strengthens your light squares.

An idea would be to move your f1 rook to e1 and later on push your e-pawn to e3 to try to trade off the pawn and attack the black backward pawn on e5.

Your opponent still had a fight going but gave up too quickly.

When you said that you are putting pressure on your opponents center, you must have thought that the e4 and d5 light squares were key squares for black when he was just fine without them (he was controlling the dark squares e5 and d4).

This is a well played game, congradulations for the victory and God Bless.

Yeah thanks for the tips man! I've never really paid much attention to the "light square/dark square" control thing, I guess I should start looking at it.

All the best,

Skewy

Agreed you have to be careful with moves like 11. e4 to make sure you open the centre in more favourable conditions. (he/she may have tried dxe3 e.p.) Another try in the opening is a reversed Benoni with 3. e3 - different ideas for that one.
