When you are starting out it's generally a bad idea to lift that f pawn early. You'll cut back on a lot of these kind of checkmates if you adhere to this advice.

On this site, the opponent I've played the most with is my friend Jonathan. About 1/3 of my games have been played with him. In fact, my worst games have been with him. I wish that it could have been me to brag about this, but I was actually the one that allowed myself to be mated in three moves. Yes, THREE. Not much to see, but here it is:

The worse the games the better. Seriously, you learn the most in those type of games.
