I’ve been playing good and improving a lot but lost this game recently! Besides the obvious blunder where I let him give the discoverer check how can I improve my game???

There are several points where you miss simple few moves tactics. Possibly doing tactical exercises can help to better spot these but also just playing more. Chess takes time to master.

9. dxe5 dxe5 10. Nc4! with the double attack againnt the queen and e5 would win a pawn.

Obviously 11. Nc4! with the same idea works too.

The intermediate move 16. Bc3! with an attack against the queen would avoid loosing the piece.

19. Bxf7+! Kxf7 20. Qxd8 should be better than the game where black could return some material with 19. Qf3 Rxd5! 20. exd5 Bd7

27. Rf1 and white should win.
