Try not to hang your queen? Honestly though analyzing a blitz game is kind of silly.

I probably would have resisted 5. dxe5. His playing e6-e5 was a bad move, representing a loss of time, so you didn't need to take it as soon as it advanced. I would have tried 5. Nc3, and then if he plays 5. ... exd4, you can just take back with your e-pawn (6. exd4) and you have better central space. 5. Nc3 also saves you the worry of his attempt at central expansion by 5. ... e4, because your Knight would have controlled that square.

I might have tried 8. Nd4, instead of 8. Ng5.

Still, I think you were doing fairly well until your 10th move, which was fatal. You just have to make sure you don't fall for those discovered attacks. Even 10. Qf4 would have saved the Queen and threatened mate, and your opponent's attack would have been quelled somewhat.

I disagree. You can learn from any of your games (though I would be much more inclined to agree with you regarding bullet games).

Wow. Blitz games. I'm too old for them, but I used to be not half bad. I think he coulda checkmated you on move 11 with Qd1. After that, I lost interest in the story line.

My personal advice is to play some really slow games and take the time to analyze your moves. This should sharpen your instinct and make you a better blitz player. Specific advice like "don't leave your queen hanging" would be obvious if you would take the time to evaluate your own game in depth.

Basic warfare logic isn't betraying you. It's your "oh crap I'm hanging a piece" sensor that's betraying you.

This is good advice. And you're right about the 11th move! (11. ... Qd1#) Black could have checkmated on move 12 also. I didn't do much looking past move 10, but I still can't believe I missed those.
