I am not able to comprehend the mistake that i did here.. Lost the battle in the endgame. Tactically we were quite equal, and I made a mistake in the endgame (engine says 29. .. Rxe2 is a mistake) but i don't still know how it is a mistake and how it cost me the game. My position just collapsed.. on me.

What was the best course of action, the strategy i should have followed?

Ps: I had a brilliant move here on 19. gxf6 !! I didn't get it either.. how was that a brilliant move.. please enlighten me happy.png

You traded off your last major piece and have no way to stop the passed c-d pawns and protect your doubled pawns.

alright, what was the best way to play this. keeping my rook on the c-file?

The best advice i can give you is try and work it out for yourself first.  Analyze the game, take notes, and then post it for reviews by others.   Just giving you the answers is like getting the answers to a final exam.  You don't learn anything that way.

I've been on it already. What i see is a loooong way, slooowy grinding and clearing 1 pawn's way to promote. I don't think this is for humans. Even Cloud NNUE engines played it +30 moves more and gave +M36 after that.

So the closest way to checkmate is 66 moves ahead.

Well i can see why you can't answer. You could have just said "I don't know" though tongue.png

Just staring at engine analysis in this kind of position will do you no good.  No human is going to see a mate in 36.  You need to learn the basics of the position and go from there.  Turn the engine off and do your own thinking.

What are the basics in king and rook endings?

What are the basics in K+P endings?

Engine took it from the move 29 and played it to 87 (58 moves) and said Mate in 36 at that point. So you are saying turn off the engine and "do your own thinking" and find a better way than 58 + 36 = those 94 best moves.

No offense but that advice didn't do any good to anything. I already asked it here. Which means i already did my own thinking and couldn't comprehend the way. You are acting like you are helping me, guiding me here but it feels like you are on the same boat.

Do what you think is best.  But remember that you are playing humans, and not 3800 rated engines.  You and your opponent are not going to find 94 best moves.  Why would you even think that?

May i ask a favor, if you are not gonna add something would you just leave?
