Position + Attack += Material

HI all,

The game below is one of mine that was played at the Durban Chess Club against a Master who has won the league on several occasions in the past.

The game starts off with a rather aggressive English with the f5 bush from black and even though the game was perfectly played out by me as black till before I saw a chance of leading in material and going for it, this just goes to show that material as sacrificed in gambits arent always worth it.

In the game, I think the a4 push would have done me well after his Rb1 move so that he cannot push on b4 anymore or his pawn chains would have broken up. I also feel Ng4 attacking the f2 e3 structure was premature as I had given off an attack with the knight off the diagonal where my opponents queen and bishop was going straight for the king.

I know fritz will tell you advantage for white after Nxf2 but I would like to hear some humanly comments and your thoughts about this. I know mine would be the pawn im up, just wont be worth his attack and the pressure he will have on my g7 square infront of my king with his knight comming to h5 and the x-ray square on h8 for the queen.

Please post your views about this and any suggestions to the continuations.

Thanks

my humanly comment is it's obvious that the exchange nxf2 was not smart and gives advantages to white of course but possibly one screw up could've gave black the advantage ... good job
