@ heister: Can I submit more games from the U14ch-GRE? ( I finished 20th in 2011 with 4/7 and 26th in 2012 also with 4/7) I am preparing (I got promoted to U16) for this year's championship coming up in Easter.

heister

@Roeczak - Sure, just submit them one at a time please.  I'd be happy to take a look!

THIS WAS A 30 MIN GAME
THERE WERE MANY COMPLICATIONS
AND HEISTER PLEASE TELL ME IF I MISS SOME THING.Smile

@xwarriour - I attempted to shed some light on the position.  Let me know if I can clarify my thoughts at all.  This is all middle game comments, no opening, no ending.

Thanks heister. exactly the kind of thing i was looking for.

I should hv forseen this and waited to play the pawn break for at least one more move(perhaps b5). There was some passive tension in the position and I have heard that the one who breaks the tension first, often ends up in an inferior position(even psychologically).

@Ritwik

there were a lot of drawing chances in the game, but do put some thought on 36...Kg8.  Could you have played for a win after this move? I think you definitely could if white showed some recklessness but I'm not completely sure.

Oh.Now that I see it, I was alright till 26-27 moves but after those rook manouevours the position got quite interesting and I somehow assumed you were black.

Anyway you said that you wanted to know what you missed, so I think 36...Kg8 was a better move for black(becoz then the played move 37.R*h5 looses)

Also 53.c6+ should be a blunder because simply R*R should be winning for you. But if that's the case then it was black's blunder too. He should'hv searched for some other way to draw. For eg- No need for 41...Rg5+. His aim should be to keep your King cut off from action and make his own king active. So 41...Ke6 (not Ke5) and white will have problem winning th game.

Hello again ritwik!  If you haven't seen the philidor's draw position or luciena's position in the rook ending, you should get a coach and have them show you the ins and outs of it.  Black should have drawn, but when he did not your win should have been much simpler :D.  I skipped over much of the late middle game to spend some extra time at the very end.  Pardon me when my caps lock gets stuck as I was very excited.

MSC157

60+0, played at 1am :)

MoonlessNight

OTB game against a USCF expert. Time control was 30 minutes + 5 second delay.

I am mainly looking for opening tips and ideas, thanks in advance!

C-H-F
A 30 minute game with blunders on both sides of the board, but I'm still able to get the win as white.

Don't spend too much time on it I'm just interested to see what your comments will be here.  I'm thinking about analyzing some other's games too.  Do you think doing so has helped you improve personally?

heister

@MSC The cure for this game is more sleep. :D

heister

@FromMuToYou - Yes, I believe a big part of my present teaching ability came from attempting to analyze games from amateurs and experts alike.  I don't think that my playing skill improves a great deal from doing this.  It's rare to see something new from anyone rated more than a couple hundred points lower (which should be expected).

I've made the greatest gains in ability when somebody else took the time to look at my games with me!  I hope this is true for you too!

AKJett

@heister: Shouldn't my game be before MSC's on the "priority list"?

heister

@ Roeczak - Indeed.  The knight and pawn endgame needs a little more analysis time than a 23 move game that ends abruptly.  It is in the works.
