Post your game for expert analysis

I just played this last night. I felt i had a slight advantage the whole game, just couldn't get the full point. i know i should have protected the pawn near the end, that was my final blunder. still a fun game though.

@ 11qq11 - If you castle opposite sides, be prepared to throw everything you've got at his king's position. The safer king usually comes out on top.

@heister: thank for the analysis, but that was not my game. :-) I played the move of Yasser Seirawan ( and probably did not handle it very well, although I liked my end game.)
This was my game:
How was your book? Did everything work out good for you?

Ok ok.. I'll take a look at YOUR game :p. You caught me trying to take the easy road. The book is coming along fine. It is being edited, which is a longer process than I realized.
As soon as it goes online, I'll put a link out so you can all have a look.

Thanks. I don't want to get credits for good play I did not do.
I have edited two books. One of them was a real project. It took me two full months to accomplish. The other one was done within two sessions of several hours.
Success with it.
Time control - 30 minutes
I played with the black pieces
My rating now 1306
Opponent's rating c.1300 when the game started
I shot myself in the foot really early on with 4.f5 when I clearly needed to play f6 or h6. However, why I'm posting the game is for the way I defended. I've put some of my own thoughts from the game here. I know white made a few errors when he could have more systematically pushed home his advantage early on. Still, interested to know what you think! Thanks!
p.s. when I refer to some squares in my analysis I've got it wrong because I was looking with the board 'upside down' haha - references to Ne3 should clearly be references to Nd6

I'm glad you're asking that question John. Defensive tactics are just as important, if not more so! I will get to your game in the next couple days.

heister, what happened to my game from the last page??? it was posted in pgn format cause my diagram icon is acting screwy
I've got a pretty little game, but I have a few concerns about the soundness of it. I was in a very sacing mood. I took the point and made my opponent look like a toy, but I still have some doubts. Initial computer analysis suggests that the sacrifices while not necessarily completely sound were not terrible and did give compensation. Then again even if it was unsound, I think at my level the defense would be tricky. I'm looking for some thoughts and suggestions. The game was 30|0.
I really would appreciate having a strong player look through this and give me some thoughts (even if they conclude that my pretty little game is nothing but trash). I also just want to say I think what you're doing with this thread is amazing, and I admire your dedication to helping weaker players.

@Loekbergman - Pretty strong game. I hate to be the one to tell you that your long calculation missed an idea :(. The good news is that your opponent missed it too!

@ jetfighter - your opponent took it easy on you in this one. He had several chances to put it away early on. :(

thats what I thought, I was playing standard theory, per the Bd7, e6 is not really the right square at that point, as e5 can sometimes be used by black. I did make plenty of mistakes. Ironically the member I played this against was banned for cheating.

@heister: thank you very much for your thorough analysis!
I had thought about Ne2 indeed, but in hindsight I agree with you that black has not much pieces left to make it too dangerous for white and if black does not start to exchange on c3 after 0-0-0 of white, what are his pieces doing there anyhow?
I didn't see b5, but I had my questions with g4 too after I had played the move. Before I played it, I thought that it was mandatory. But anyhow, I think that Ne2 is the most important move that I missed. I shouldn't be in this position after the disastrous opening of black. If my opponent had played your Ba6, then would the opening end in a disaster for me instead.
Thanks for the feedback about the endgame. I couldn't calculate both lines to the end, so I had to make a choice based on evaluation.
@heister thanks for the analysis
