Queen-Knight Pawn Fork???

I just recently played this game, and I encountered a pawn forking my Queen and one of my Knights.  Was there any way I could have avoided it?
 

If you could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it :)

There's no compelling reason to take the knight. You can play Nxe5, Nd5, Rac1.
