Hey Sean, long time buddy! Funny story, my huge loss streak comes on the morning after an intense acid trip. It was clear to me that I was missing basic threats and playing very poorly!
Actually, until move 13 the game is balanced. ...13. Be7 instead of Qb6 and the position holds. I can assure you at all levels, players make awful blunders relative to their own ratings. It is unfortunate that these losses come in a row because I was hovering around 1720 before the lost streak.
I came to notice as well that I was at a disadvantage because of high ping over at my friend's place, and was losing down on a lot of time, scrambling to move. You'd be surprised how a half decent connection can save you from many loses. Being down on time also leads to a certain kind of blindness when you're in a worse position, and a high energy boost when you're in a winning position, both of which can distract you from your execution.
Thanks for taking a look at my game and I'm happy to see you're improving at chess! Keep it up
HI everyone in Chess.com.
Recently, I have just observed my buddy RolloOrollo and found that he had lost 13 straight games from April 1 to 2. This was actually kind of strange to me, so I decided to spend 1 hour of my time to analyze another one of his games to help cheer him up!
For this 3-min Blitz game, it is RolloOrollo (1619) vs NightSeesix(1653). RolloOrollo is black.
4... Bg6:
In such a 3 minute Blitz game, my natural instinct was to go for g6, with the idea that White would exchange a knight for a bishop, resulting Black in doubled-pawns on the f-file. (Generally it's bad to have doubled pawns, though I would do it because of the time pressure.)
13: Qb6??
I was very shocked with that move. It is quite understandable if blunders like this happen in 3 minute-time controls of my blitz level,(1.2k+) as they are more likely than 1.6k+ rated chess games.
14: Bg3!
White, with material advantage shows patience with this move by deciding not to rush things by trading pieces straight away. I respect this approach very much.
16: Qxb2??
In this position, there are two ways for White to reply to this. Black falls into the trap of dreaming a free pawn, where in reality they are helping White to react by opening the b-file for the rook to jump in with Rb1!
Or, White can also look from this perspective that Black will accomplish little to nothing by grabbing the pawn on b2. Aside the first option, another patient move would be 17: Qd2, developing the queen and connecting White's rooks. White's queen will be fairly safe in that square, as Black's dark-squared bishop is no longer present in the battlefield. And Black's f6 knight cannot jump to e4 because that particular square is defended two times by the d3 pawn and d6 knight (excluding the e1 rook because if rook takes, Black will capture White's rook on a1 with check to follow.
21: ....Bf5
In this position, White has a decisive material advantage, although there are no clear lines of tactics seen by me for both sides. Black on the other hand, is down material with an isolated c-pawn. There is not much black can do right here except to improve his defensive position. As such, bf5 is a logical move, defending the e6 pawn.
23: g3?
I would have performed this move too initially. Looking from a non-timed perspective however, h3 is better.
White creates a sneaky, deadly trap for Black. White intends to invite Black to do Qh2+, Kf1, Qh1+, Ke2 and Black realizes at this point he has nothing. White's connected rooks will thwart the queen's fight, and the black queen will be forced to play Qh2 again, giving White tempo.
28: Qf4!?
It is realistic to offer trades of queens at this position. After the ladies are gone, Black's bishop is forced to rely on their only rook left as their partner to join them in the e-file as their only way of checkmating White's King. But White has enough rooks to defend against this checkmate with ease.

That 13-straight losses on his belt must have hit him quite hard. I affirm him for trying, and I'm sure he will not give up and go for it again!
