Shall I be happy about the draw?

Hello. I've been lurking here for a while and decided to give the chess a shot and play some games.

I know I've blundered first move, and then dropped knight for no reason (didnt see queen comming! seriously shame on me for making these mistakes), but after this blunder I woke up and decided to play out to draw the position, and after I have reached my goal to simplify the position and propose a draw after some fighting he accepted... looking back at it I'm curious if I could have won the game.

so, if you don't like your eyes bleeding, just skip the move order and glimpse the final position and tell me if black was better.. because after all, i think I should have been playing to the end as my pawns were seriously strong.

Pardon my gramma.

You had multiple passed pawns. I think you could have pulled off a win.

Tyzer

IIRC three pawns vs a knight is usually a win for the pawns, although in this case there are other pawns on the board to consider. I think you should have been able to push through though.

I would have rather played black in this situation. Your pawns, plus your king's superior position, make it likely a win if you know how to play it. But if you don't, a draw is better than mucking it up i suppose.

maulmorphy

yeah, blacks a little better. say you were white instead though... Id still say play on, it would of been a great learning experience

Nygren

The chess engine Rybka gives just about ½ a pawn in favour for black, but that is nothing at our level because a single move in the endgame changes all!

I think that the position is very instructive and trying playing through the endgame using computer or anything similar could be recommended.

I thought that gramma stands for grammatics? ^^

I'm working on my english pretty hard now:P

but thats offtopic.

oh and, I think he did these exchanges badly, after my calculation he'd have rook vs my bishop, and given the pawn structure of both of us, if it were bishop vs rook ending, would it be a draw?
