Should I consider this a draw?

Why are we considering this a draw? What you posted is a loss. Are you on drugs? If yes, gimme.

Maybe you had to be there, but considering the circumstance, this should actually be a win... I am saying it is a draw due to extenuating circumstances

What you posted is a loss.

I guess you had to be there to understand

Just lay off the drugs.

Because he spends more time trolling than studying.

This thread is hilarous. You simply cannot reason with a delusional person.

I know exactly what you mean! It is HILARIOUS that people can project biases when they were not even there! It kind of makes me hope for a more even handed judiciary system that is better than the current one for judging a winner or loser in chess games

As long as your delusions stay in this thread, it's alright.

AussieMatey

If you don't consider it a REAL game and a TRUE loss, then why are you complaining about it by creating and writing this thread???

I wanted to make sure that I wasn't being unreasonable, given the circumstance.  I know there is a chess etiquette worth upholding, and being a low rated player I wanted a professional opinion.  Given the opinions  I received, I remain convinced that within the chess community, there should be room given for the consideration of circumstance before a win or loss is assigned to a winning or losing player.

Fischer's first game v Spassky in 1972

AussieMatey

It wasn't by 'blind luck" that he mated you - it was by your blunder. You need to play the whole game out to the very last move, and when you've got a big material advantage, concentrate harder to convert it.

How can you claim Fischer lost that game? You were not even there.

I just think that at the lower rating levels, there should be the "whole game" taking into consideration, (kind of what you are referring to) before assigning a clear victor, especially if there is a rapid swing of fortunes in the final few moves.  The community body (+2000), would assign a winner, taking the entire game into consideration.  this would be an elegant and FAIR way to determine what lower ranking players are better than other lower ranking players

Hey all, for the record, here is an example what i would consider a fair loss.  I was obviously behind in the end, (though i tried to force a draw).

The only thing that matters in determining win/lose/draw is the final position on the board.

I probably will get a warning but the OP is either an idiot or is "goofing" on us.

m_connors

That would hurt, but it's a loss . . . sorry. How many times have we seen in sporting events one team out play the other but come up short at the end of the game. In chess you win if you mate the opponent's king, it may be ugly, it may be sweet, but it's the result, not the "how", that wins. Chess isn't figure skating so there are no pints for style; only the result counts.

m_connors

... meant to say pOints, not pints

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he's just goofing on us. :)
