I dont really feel it was sound. Black had a fairly defensible position - space to develop and shelter for his king. 13)...Qxd4 looks fairly okay. You need to have a lead in devopment to get away with this.

I'm not much more than a novice, but in my most recent game I decided to sacrifice a knight to prevent my opponent from castling, and then mount a kingside assault. Normally I'm a quiet positional player, but given the circumstance I decided to take a chance and it paid off! Comments, & criticisms welcome!
