Unfair Gameplay – Technical Error

Dear Chess Team,

During a recent game, on the 24th move, my opponent advanced their pawn to f5. I attempted to capture this pawn diagonally with my pawn on g6 by moving to f7, but the system incorrectly prevented the capture. This resulted in a loss of time on my clock, allowing my opponent to gain an unfair advantage. I believe this constitutes an unjust outcome, as the rules of chess clearly permit such a diagonal pawn capture.

I kindly request that you:

Restore my rating points lost due to this technical issue.

Notify the opposing player about the error to ensure fair play awareness.

Thank you for addressing this matter promptly. I trust your platform will uphold the integrity of the game by resolving such discrepancies.

That's not the way en passant works. A pawn on its 5th rank can capture a pawn that makes its initial two-step move on an adjacent file can capture as if the pawn had only moved one square.

This is a rare situation and since I didn't know, my mind stayed there until the end of the game, in my opinion, this was not a fair match at all.

Look, just because YOU do not now the subtleties of the en passant, it doesn't mean the game is rigged

I'm sorry, but I don't get how the en passant move works. Could someone please explain, I read the article but didn’t understand how the capture works.
