What is a good move here?

The position below is from a game I lost recently. I was very short on time so I'm sure I made some bad moves. I was playing as white and decided to trade rooks on the D-file, but for some reason I feel like Rde2 would have been a better move because it ties his king down to the defense of his e-pawn and also forces him to bring a rook behind the pawn. After that it seems like neither side can make any progress and possibly be drawn? Just curious what anyone else thinks.

I would agree, this is not an ideal position. So you're saying a draw is not possible with correct play?

it appears to me Rde2 will lose anyways because while white will run out of moves, black can use one of his rooks to eventually invade d2 and force an exchange of rooks

I was thinking if black puts a rook on d2, white can play Rxe4+. It seem like that only helps white. But thats how I got in this situation in the first place, by thinking.

 You might have a practical chance...but it seems that r-d3+ followed by rxb2 is winning for black

Why give up the e pawn ?  After Rde2 Re6 ( or Re7 ) with the idea of playing Re5 and then Rd3 ...... what can white do ?

Just to confirm what you guys were telling me, I tried to play this position against the chessmaster and it slaughtered me in every line that I tried. At first I couldn't see why this position was so bad. Shows how much I have to learn.

 np, and don't worry.  We all have a lot to learn.  Seems like the farther up I move the more I realize it. 

Can't you basically create a perpetual check?  Lots of ways it could go, but it seems like there is a chance of making it a draw?
