What is and what should never be

Ever had one of those moments where you think; "Oh God! If only I'd played that!" Well, here's a blitz game where I experienced that exact feeling, after going up a piece, I didn't play sufficiently aggressively to maintain my advantage... here's how it started

At this point I realised that I had played far too passively, and duly I later lost the game. Somewhere around the 25th move, when I had been deep in thought about the situation I found the move that I probably should have played, having analysed it, I believe it leads to a heavy advantage for black. See if you can find what I think is the best progression for Black here...

If only I'd have played that!

its a very interesting position, now im trying to figure out what black should do if white doesnt take the knight with the king :)

Wow! I didn't spot that at all, I just thought, Ng3 fxg3 and that's it! Well I guess it just reinforces the point, If only I'd played that!

oh crap, i messed up the edits >.<

here is the position again :P

i just dont know what happens when black doesnt take the knight.

aaaaah i messed up again, dont mind the pawn on c7, it isn't supposed to be there :P

why should we commit on blitz games.  blitz games are supposed to be fast and all blunders are not taken advantage off

BY THE WAY WHAT WAS THE TIME OF THIS GAME

I'm a bit confused by all these diagrams.  Yes, 19... Ng3+ does win the exchange.  You have to be very careful about White's one large threat though.  For example, in the first position, after 4... Qxf4 (you have the board--and coordinates--reversed) White has 5 Qb8+ Bc8 6 Be6 and in order to try to win Black has to resort to 6... Bf8 to save his rook--and king (6... Bh4 7 Qxc8+ Ke7 8 Qd7+ Kf6? 9 Qf7+ Kg5 10 Qxg7+ Kh5 11 g4+ and mate next move).  It doesn't look especially promising for him.

Black had better though:  3... Rf8 (threatening mate in 2) and on 4 h3 Bh4 threatens mate in 3 (as well as giving Black's king some much-needed air).  If Black played 4... Bxh3 there btw he is still stymied by 5 Qb8+ Bc8 6 Be6 (6... Qh4+ 7 Bh3).

THIS IS A BLITZ GAME NOT A TOURNAMENT GAME OR OTB  ...SO WHAT IS WITH THE DEEP VARIATIONS GIVING FOR THE POSITION.  I REPEAT IT WAS A BLITZ GAME

damn right im still mad about 2004 thats why i had to let it go. same with blitz games

all im saying is why analyzie a blitz game ? for the puropose of the same position as a more time control game. I understand what your are doing. But do u study your blitz games   nooo. Blitz to me are played on instinst. Opionion is like a  belly-button everybody got one.    studying blitz games are a waste of time, we will just be hurting our games if we did   (just my belly-button)

Thanks for all your comments gentlemen. To answer a few queries, this was an 11|5 game. I must say I completely agree with NM tonydal, any interesting postition is worth taking a look at because there may well be something to learn from it. In this case, under time constraints I was not bold enough to take the pawn on f2 with my Rook (I APOLOGISE ONCE MORE FOR REVERSED CO-ORDINATES) but now I have learnt that in a blitz game it is worth looking a little into those seemingly illogical lines because some of them can yield a result! I was so preoccupied with the fact that I didn't think I had enough material to force a mate or a successful attack that I played an awful passive move that led to my downfall!
