Why is dxe5 an inaccuracy?

PGN posted below board image in post #2.

I am playing white.

5. Nxe5 would have left me even in terms of material after 10 moves.  Whereas, after playing 5. dxe5 I was able to checkmate on move 8.

Why is the Game Review telling me to play 5. Nxe5 if it leaves me even instead of victorious?

Your opponent did not have to play 6...d6 in the game. 6...Qg5 would have been a better defense, but you are still winning.

After 5. Nxe5, the best continuation is 5...fxe5 6. Qh5 Ke7 7. Qxe5+Kf7 8. Bc4+ where you have a crushing attack and will eventually win much more material than if 5. dxe5 fxe5 6. Nxe5 Qg5.

Not a big deal though - both moves are crushing.
