Why resign?

Opponent wasn't doing too well, but this was still far from losing

Maybe he just didn't feel like playing that position.

although compromised a bit White's position still seems playable. And Black's light-squared B is still temporarily locked in.

Did you send them a message asking why?  After Nxc5 black is definitely better but it's a long way from resignation time unless black is a very strong player.

i think 10...dxe4 is stronger than 10...Nxc5, which allows 11 exd5 exd5 12 Nfxd5 and White has compension in a well positioned N for the opened e-file & B diagonal!

Nxc5 doesn't look that good. White can free his game by exchanging in the center. White is cramped and needs to be kept that way.

Black probably should push to d4. But in any event, white should not resign.

Just message the guy and find out why, it might not have anything to do with the game at hand, it might be something personal.

i believe 10...d4 allows 11 Nb5-d6. on d6 the N becomes a bit of a nuisance & can at least be traded 4 the light-squared B.

Guys, I wouldn't recapture exch on d5 with the pawn straight away  .......Nxc5 11 exd5 Nb4

10..dxe4 looks better though don1 you are right.  I think both are winning though
