Hey all,
I just finished this 3 min blitz game, where there were indeed errors, but I found the ending position very interesting.
Actually, my oponent ran out of time, but I maintain that I had a won game. Can anyone confirm/disprove this please? I'd really like to know.
I've added notes to the pertinent section, showing the moves I had intended:
So yes, I think I was good... mainly I liked the Qb1+!! KxQ Rc1# combo that I had in my arsenal...
What do you guys think, does the threat created by it make it a winning combo here? Was the game mine anyways?
32...Rfc8 "seals the deal" is a bit silly since 32...Rc1# was mate...
I think your hypthetical 32...Rfc8 33.a3 b3 wins (34.Bxb3 Rc1+ 35.Ka2 Qb1#).
33...Rc1+ 34.Ka2 Qb1+ 35.Kb3 R1c3 36.Qxc3 Rxc3 37.Kxc3 Qxd1+ 38.Kd3 Qxg4 leaves you a queen ahead, but it's not mate.
It's always a shame when one gets away like that - I mean I won anyways, but I would have loved to have checkmated in that fashion.
Ah well - next time...
