If I told you on move 8 for black that you had to pick the best move, what would you choose? Either Ne7 or Qe7 right? Well apparently the best move according to Stockfish is Kd7 which just makes no sense to me. I'm sure if I even gave you days to find the best move without using the help of an engine, you would see Kd7. I'm not even sure if grandmasters would play Kd7 because of how ridiculous this move is. First of all, if you play Qe7 you can long castle the next turn and with Kd7 you can't even castle at all, and it's always nice to develop your queen to a bit more active square. Even after Qe7 and d3, the engine still thinks that Ke7 is a fine move even when long castle is available. And by the way even Kf8 is better than Ne7 according to the engine
The differential in the analysis evaluation is very small. Human players are more comfortable with 8...Qe7. Part of the reason why 8...Kd7 is not as bad as it looks is because White's pieces aren't exactly very developed.
