My goal for this year was to have an average rating in 10min Blitz or 15-10 Rapid of 1600+ or obtain a 1700+ rating at some point (figured that indicates a 1600 player at least). My long term goal is to get an FIDE rating of 1800 (I'm not rated at the mo). Anyone know how chess.com ratings compare to FIDE?
Anyway the game itself isnt great. I always go for the open sicilian (Taimanov) against e4 and and am disappointed when my opponent plays the closed. My game plan was to build pressure on d4 which I did to build a small advantage. After my opponent played Na3 to defend the bishop I really wanted to move my c6 knight so I could take his knight on a3 & pic up the bishop but it never happened.
My take away from this game is the computers suggestion to play 4..d4 if my opponent plays4..e5, gain space and immediately equalize. Not sure why I've never taken notice of this advice before, to busy starting the next game
