2162 in blitz - back from my break (somewhat)

Indeed!! They were fun to play and almost quite as fun to annotate :-)

See post 2 in this thread. The 15th of July is past, and I allowed myself three blitz game for this week (which ends tomorrow, 18/7).

Aimful astronaut wanted to play with me - so we played three games. I was probably a bit lucky, and I believe that he's stronger than his rating indicates (although I missed some very obvious opportunities in these games).

Be that as it may - both my rating and my rating record NOW stand at 2151.

Nice! :-)

I still intend to complete my study of the course before really getting back to blitz... for now a few games per week would totally do.

solskytz Very good commentary and analysis by you on the games, I only read the analysis of one game but I will finish them all, KEEP THEM COMIN!!!

Nice!

I went up to about 2153 on Friday, but then I lost it all...

OK. You've inspired me to play some blitz - 2158! It'll likely drop soon, however...I'm blundering pieces right and left.

<Grandbipa> Thanks!! :-) I'm happy when people enjoy my games and commentary - keep on reading and commenting :-) !!!

Notice that I have past threads as well, with many annotated games, which you may find interesting!!!

<Robert> I'm so happy that you're playing so close to your record - which you also may break :-)

Continuing with this policy of few blitz games until I complete the course - which probably isn't that bad, if two games over the last 10 days are enough for a 1:1 result against a FM, improvement of my record to 2160 and having my current rating rest at a higher level than the previous record...

Here's the game I won:

I'm still happy and surprised whenever I break a record. This accounted for an obvious error I would normally never make, on move five (!) of an opening I play all the time.

My opponent (the same one from the game appearing above) took advantage of this and won very convincingly, in only twenty-four moves. I will post that game, with my annotations, in my next "chess time window".

EDIT: I finally didn't... but it's still pretty easy to locate in my game history - watch and enjoy as a strong FM tears my position apart with great efficiency and aplomb!

Strange that in this month of July, in which I play so little blitz (six games in total this whole month), every time I log in to play, I break my rating record by a few MORE points.

(I now see that a bunch of games appear on July 1st now that I'm in Brussels - but it was June 30th in MEXICO when I played them)

Here's the last effort - the third and last game which I allowed myself for this week. The opponent had a "sexy" 2200 rating before going 1. e4.

nice game and your lucky he didn't see your blunder in the endgame.

If you speak about taking on a2 - he would also lose in that case - the position is still lost, and he had less than 2 seconds to my 16...
