You were playing a poor opponent, I guess. After 5. Qh5+, black should have played 5...g6. Even if you had played 6. Qxe5+, black would have been able to block with bishop, knight, or queen. 5...Ke7 was just a really bad move.

Nice tactic, but this is the kind of trap a beginner would fall for once and then you will never be able to use it again.

2. ...f6?? already loses an exchange and 4 pawns. Heres a diagram with all the variations

MRO, 2. ... f6 is not good, but it's really 3. ... fxe5 that loses everything in your line. Instead, black should try 3. ... Qe7 and put up a fight.

Correct. McGregor played 3. ... Qe7 against Bobby Fischer and drew (although Fischer missed a winning line right in the opening).
