Yeah, my opponent could of course have avoided calamity with closing the diagonal with ...e6, but most miniatures at my level are caused by these sorts of oversights!
As far as your two suggested moves, I'll admit to being completely stumped, unless there's some key idea I'm missing. I realize Nc7 allows me to win more prosaically after grabbing an exchange with the initiative after 16...Qxc7 17. Bxf7+ Kh8 18. Bxe8, and I did consider inserting Nxc6 before the sacrifice. I'll be sure to keep analyzing. Thanks for feedback :)

This game isn't that great, but there is a beautiful line that could have appeared, so I want to show this attack. I'm not really good at attacking, but occasionally, my opponent allows these sorts of games. Please help me analyze.
