just brilliant fun blitz games.

Why do you seem so hung up about the way Batgirl posting her games ?

chess2Knights

I was just responding to batgirl saying that more people were interested in her wins. Well above I pointed out that the games were better but I also think that more viewers might prefer to see the person posting on the winning side. Certainly they would expect to see this and they may be friends or at least know the poster from chat or playing online etc. Once again she is free to post whatever she desires.

kco

what's this now ? Macoute.com ?

chess2Knights

If the person is proud of their game that is good enough. Unless you are either the worst player on the planet or the current world champion a brilliant or even a good or poor game is a relative term. There are millions of players that would think my games are fantastic and there are at least a few hundred thousand who certainly would not.

Elubas

I will say again, if you are going to post a win, it is sensible to post it in the game showcase. The issue I had was not about where it was posted, but rather how many were posted -- there have been dozens of win posts in a row.

But, again, batgirl is a very sensible person, so her intentions were, probably, not bad. Most of the time when people post so many wins, they are obsessed with showing themselves in a good light, but I wouldn't be surprised if batgirl was an exception to that, and had her own reasons. I just wanted to give my opinion that once in a while I do like to see losses because it shows courtesy -- giving your opponent some praise, and blunders, as well as the thought processes behind them, are fun to discuss.

However, now that I have given that opinion (it seems like a lot of people don't bring it up), I encourage batgirl to do what she wants. Smile

Well you obviously do not like the quality of her games. I enjoyed them and do remember they were blitz games. I did not view them with the idea of rating them in terms of quality. So you are being critical of her chess ability but are you sure you are such a better player to be doing so? Also even if you are why would you do that? Does not sound nice. She say anything bad to you? Are there any players stronger than you that might be critical of one of your games? How would you feel about that? Do you see my point?

kco

and if you want to look at the losses, there two perfect places for it are in here...

chess2Knights: To be fair I think you are claiming me of doing things I am not necessarily doing. Quality doesn't matter; as you said, it's all relative. I do like instructive-ness of course, but I agree that it's ok if a game is not instructive if it can provide entertainment value to the readers. I am not being critical of her chess ability: anyone who can get to 1600 blitz has my respect, as that is certainly quite a road to climb compared to beginner. In fact, her blitz rating is about as good as mine (it's 1700 right now).

Edit: Or at least, judging by the ratings she shows in the posts. It says her blitz is 1200 for some reason here, although I'm not sure what website she plays on?

kco

ring a bell corrijean ? Laughing

kco

Is definitely him isn't corrijean ?

kco

Thank you Macoute. you have just answered my question.

chess2Knights

Elubas my post was not directed to you at all. I was responding to a post by Macoute. Macoute I do not see that she was bragging at all unless you consider any posting doing so. Yes you probably would get the same flak but you should not receive it. If you post a game you are proud of maybe it would be OK to give you a constuctive critic of the moves (especially if you asked for such) but not to the point of claiming you were bragging or playing poorly. True you would probably not get that respect on here but you should.

chess2Knights

How did corrijean get into this? What am I missing? In regard to batgirls rating she may have just put her online rating on the blitz games? What is the implication here? Now I see we have people getting into really overheated arguments. Surely not what batgirl intended just by showing off a few games she enjoyed and thought she played well. I am not judging the quality of those games as I did not look at them deeply and there is no reason why I should. I enjoyed them and I am happy she posted them.

BruceJuice

I think you guys should stop arguing. Is it not possible that someone could just post games that they are proud of? I have pictures of my family all over the place but I'm not bragging about them. I just really care about them and they mean a lot to me.

I don't see any reason to go after anyone either. Everyone will feel differently about such things. It's ok for people to have opinions right?

batgirl
