You set the Skill Level to 0, did ya? Yeah, Stockfish makes it just too easy.
Battles Against Stockfish DD

I had it at 20, is that 0? I want to know how to make it strongest so I can be challenged to improve.

in xboard I set everything to to maximum and then left stuff like cowardice at default and I had a much harder time making it to middle game LOL

While Stockfish cannot probably beaten by us mere mortals, it came to my attention that it has a very exploitable bug that you can use to draw it from time to time.
The bug is, that it handles a 2-fold-repetition as a draw.
So if you play white and can provoke a situation where after taking back a move the evaluation is still slightly in your favour, Stockfish will evaluate repeating the last position as 0.00 and you can draw it by playing the same moves again.
Here's an example of such a game:
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4. d3 d6 5. Ng5 Nh6 6. Nf3 Ng8 7. Ng5 Nh6 8. Nf3
If you just set up the position after 6. Nf3, it will reply with another move but if you play these moves it will, for whatever reason, play the stupid move 6. ... Ng8 and let you draw it by repeating again.
I contacted the Devs about this glitch. Turned out they already knew it but didn't want to fix it because the fix cost like 1.4 ELO against itself without the fix.
Lucky engine that draws against a 1300 are not counted when it comes to it's Engine-only-rating-lists. -_-

I have actually beaten Stockfish at maximum strength in blitz in the Mar del Plata variation of the King's Indian Defense. The KID is so full of tricks that Stockfish ends up getting lost in the tactics. Of course, I end up getting destroyed in other opening lines, but I have been able to defeat the silicon foe whenever the Mar del Plata variation arises.
Hi there! Been doing some long-play against Stockfish. Round 1 I was crushed at a 90 minute time control:
I believe 10.Qd2 was where I lost it.
Today I just _crushed_ Stockfish DD. I did an hour of Concentric Squares drills before the game, then went on to a swift victory at a 60 minute time control:
Going to continue training!
