Bc2#
Bc2# is checkmate on the queen. PGN didn't put the hashtag in for me so I helped it. Friends help each other. I am PGN's friend and PGN is my friend.
Check in checkmate derives from the Persian word Shah, meaning king (Checkmate = Shah mat, the king is dead). The connection is a little more obvious in Russian, where the word is shakh (Russian has no h so kh or g is used instead). Therefore to say the queen is checkmated is incorrect. The Persian word for the piece we call queen is something like ferz, or vizier (also preserved in Russian). Instead of checkmate, you should say perhaps ferzmate.
....you're so right....
....
And hashtag is meant for the king. Maybe you can make one up for a queen checkmate.
kingdamian1, Except I actually scored the goal. I didn't hit the bar.
Ghostess_Lola, let's go with Bc2$$ because the queen's obviously the breadwinner!
"ferz" and "vizier" mean "advisor". And women can be kings too. This is the age of feminism!
No, women cannot be kings. They can sometimes be monarchs, as has been the case for millennia. A king is a male monarch. A female monarch is referred to as a queen. A queen may also be the consort of a male monarch, but the consort of a female monarch is not generally referred to as King.
Yes, Pedantic is my middle name.
TheronG12, you are clearly polluted by your sexist, anti-feminist bias. You need to man up (or in this case, woman up).
I'm not sexist, though sometimes perhaps anti-feminist. I said a woman can be a monarch, didn't I? But a woman can't be a man, and therefore can't be a king, just as a man can't be a queen.
There is no rule until patriarchy came in that dictated a woman cannot be called a king and a man cannot be called a queen.
Based on your profile, you don't even know the difference between Arizona and New England, so what do you know about it?
(old internet debating trick: I can't think of an answer, so resort to an ad hominem)
I'm up now again. Let's see....where were we ?
There's a fine line between helping a woman via EEOC & forcing the small % of those w/ a superiority complex get stripped of any excuses.
And BTW, there's Billie Jean King, Carole King, Coretta Scott King. And then there's Oliver Queen, Richard Queen, Steve McQueen (well, kinda....)
And also, that grape-eating, drumstick holding King of yours hides behind (3) pawns and a castle quivering like a hairless chihuahua. All the while your powerful faithful queen direx traffic w/ panache and later ?....steps in upon middlegame & creates havoc like Joan of Arc in 1429.
Believe me, your cowardly king would step back behind rank one....if there was one. Unfortunately for him, all chessboards have borders.

Not mine. Mine has an unfortunate tendency to go charging into the middle and take on the enemy army by himself.
So TheronG12 goes on to make ad-hominem remarks. I do know the difference between New England and Arizona. newengland7 is a username for privacy, Arizona is where I actually live.
BTW, I bet your grape eating, drumstick loving king only goes out like that when he's forced to by the other guy's queen!

Oh, look, I'm TheronG12's drumstick loving king being forced to hide behind a wall of pawns by the dreaded white king (aka queen)! She so much stronger than me!
