Beating a Homecooked Hypermodern

The game features me putting what I think is a pretty convincing crunch on my opponent's pet system... A nizmo larsen double fianchetto. I obtain a pawn and a  positional edge with a well-timed pawn push. Accurate play on my part vs some passive play on his part snowballs my positional advantage into a crush, even while the material situation remains unchanged. I hope you enjoy it & the annotations.  (although of course as soon as I publish I see errors in the annotations...*sigh*)

nice annotations, nice game. Makes me consider putting down my tactics book and picking up a strategy book.

Thanks tarikhk...

Catalyst_kh. I agree with all your notes 100%. During the game I fully expected the simple Qe1 and I think my response would be the simple Rf8 -- I never imagined he'd let me keep my rook on his second rank.  Nf1 was a big strange blunder.

Don't worry about me losing won games. I've learned that lesson the hard way. And now when I have a "won" position, I concentrate harder and take nothing for granted. If I do sound over-confident in the annotations... it's because they're written after the game is over, and I know even I can't blunder it away then Wink

Thanks for your thoughtful comments.

I'm sooo tired of reading 1300 - 1400 players show off crappy games. This was a real treat and will keep me coming back to this topic. Thanks for a great game and great comments!

What?? That was outta left field... Are you mentally challenged? No offense intended, that's just really my only explanation for that. =/

good show!

Every once in a while youll be playing with the black pieces and your opponent just digs in....(moves like a3 and h3 for no real reason) you know, no offensive ambition whatesoever.  Whenever that happens to me i just say: thx for letting me develop at my liesure buddy!

Im surprised it still happens at your level.
