Breaking Castle Structure for Mating Attacks

Sort:

I enjoy games where I have a chance to break down the opponent's castle structure. If this happens to you, a good strategy is to trade off into the endgame, where there can be no lethal mating attacks. In this game, my opponent has weakened pawns on both kingside and queenside, which allows for a swift mating attack. Granted, my opponent did not play best but I still enjoyed playing this game out. Any advice, analysis or comments are appreciated!

24 Nxe5 Rxb7 25 Qxf7+ Kd8 26 Qd7 isn't mate (Black's queen's on it)...but you do win the queen with 26 Nc6+ (26... Kc8 27 Qe6 mate).

Ahh, thanks, I missed the queen!
