yes, for this game but in longer time controls this engine is more difficult to beat. I played a supossed 1800 computer and beat him in 8 minutes. engine ratings don`t mean a lot.
I set my fritz at 2000 and played it at 3 minute blitz and I still lost though. btw I'm 1800 otb, so 2000 isn't too hard for me, especially in blitz, where engines are worse because they don't have as much time to think.

Maybe more like 1000
true it sorta played a sorta legit catalan, then hung his queen
I have a feeling that the way the computer plays is, it just chooses a random legal move, with all legal moves in the position having an equal chance of being chosen.
Here's me vs an engine, with the engine being the 400 rated computer on chess.com:
are you joking or something?
Try playing the 400 rated computer yourself and you'll see what I mean.

which computer? There's only 4 computers in chess.com! Computer 1 easy, computer 2 medium, computer 3 hard, computer 4 impossible!
Not on the live chess screen. Click on "vs computer" under "play."
Here's a real random legal mover...It ain't pretty. I even made a couple of horrendous moves that I figured it was likely to ignore.

are you? his game is just as interesting as yours is. Playing a computer who blunders on purpose isn't very interesting.
this was a great game in which i defeated a 1400-1600 engine in 14 moves. the time control was 3 minutes. here is the game.
