But nice.

discovered means a check was not made by the moving piece, but another piece and one of the 2 checking pieces was not moved for the checkmate(queen)

It was a discovered-double-check.

Also, if it wasn't checkmate, you would've also won the queen.

Thank you so much for your commentary. It was a worthwhile read!

Yet another example of discovered checkmate by the king:

I'm convinced that it's the King who delivered checkmate, not a rook, as in the turns the last one is Kd2#.

discovered or hidden (attack/chech/mate) in some other languages. good game. also it doesn't actually matter what is your elo points. what does matter is how well and accurate the game has been played. i have only 600 elo in average and i started to play few month ago, but sometimes i even wonder myself with a good game (not bragging) [of course most of the time i blunder...-_-"]

It's another discover checkmate by moving the king.

Commentary on the app is better on the move before, which is weird to me. I can’t really read the annotations ahead of the move that gets displayed in the window, but can read the previous commentary.

I can't tell if your confused but a discovered check/mate is when you move a piece revealing an attack on the king so in this scenario he moves his knight which delivers checkmate because now his queen is attacking aswell (this causes checkmate) ps. A queen attacking a king isn't a checkmate, obviously I could of phrased that better.

At black's move 2, ericcamp wonders if those who know a lot of theory stuff may understand why black played 2...g5. I know a lot of theory, even in the openings that I don't play. 2...g5 is just a completely unjustified weakening of the kingside and it looks like it can be punished by 3.d4.
