Don't chase the Queen - Queen's Pawn Opening: Horwitz Defense

Now I don't want to pretend that my game was perfect (far from it) however I want to show that as a chess player you shouldn't solely focus on capturing your opponent’s queen. Ironically after a mistake of my opponent he resigned when I captured his queen. As beginner chess players we should focus on the basics, defense and creating or following good openings to control the center:

Controlling the center is nice, but also moving the knights and bishops off th back ranks as fast as possible. It was well past move 20 before either player castled, and that's no good.
