Interesting Morra Game

Interesting Morra-Smith gambit game I played.

I like the Morra because 1) I'm too lazy to learn other lines; 2) It's great against unprepared opponents; 3) There's a lot of tactics for the opponent to slip up in - white's pieces always seem to be in the right place.

I played the same opponent a few months ago a lot using this opening every time. They had worked it out eventually after I had a lot of initial success. I'm still useless at Sicilians other than this so hopefully he'd forgotton how to play it (he hadn't).

After my opening appeared not to work (all I got was an isolated c-pawn), I eventually found a way through on move 23. I'm reading a great book on sacrifices at the moment ("How to Become A Deadly Chess Tactician" by David LeMoir) and so always thinking about how I can use it in my game.

I'm sure it'll be back to normal in my next game with him though , so I'll enjoy the winning feeling while it lasts...

EDIT - Oh - and my rating is quite deceptive - I haven't been playing often recently (high Glicko) except with someone who is ranked quite a bit lower than me (several wins). Maybe 200-250 points inflation because of this. It scares me seeing 2100+ - I'm sure I'll be back to my real level soon...
