What is 7. ... Bg4 supposed to be?
Black is just a piece up after 7. ... e6 instead.

It's a real opening. If you play the Caro-Kann, I would look into responses to that and the Caro-Kane gambit. I horribly misplayed my defense against the Alien Gambit and was a victim of a miniature in a rapid game. I'd consider those two openings potential surprise weapons in a blitz (rapid might be borderline sound) game.
