Knight Dominating Bishop in Endgame.

Here's a solid game with an interesting endgame. I hope you enjoy it. Of course, any constructive feedback is welcome.

35 Bd2 was too passive and probably deserves a ?. While you were getting ready for your knight tour, don't you think he could have improved his drawing chances with 35 d4?

Afterwards, black is still better but it is hard to see you winning the game with the same extended knight maneuvers. Black has to worry about the c5 break disrupting his own pawn chain.

In short... yes. I did a lot of analysis and I have to clean it up a little before I post it, but I think it is probably better. I found that Black still has an edge and there is one plan the White has that seems to at least draw, so I'm trying to see if there is a hole in my analysis before I post it. I'm not using a computer to analyze, so it's a little slower to figure it out.

The only thing I would mention is that I'm not sure after 36. Bd4 I would opt to move the knight instead playing 36...c5, locking the bishop out of Black's position and then use the knight's ability to maneuver. However, as I said, Black seems to get the edge or win except for one plan that White has that at least draws, so i want to examine it for another day or so and then post my analysis.

Thank you for looking at my game though. I appreciate it and hopefully we can both learn from it!

Wow your knight is very active. As a somewhat new player I do not like knights and even though I understand the bishop pair is powerful, I don't know how to utilize it to the most benefit, so I will often trade my bishops off for my opponents knights as I can't see where the knights can go in advance (yet), I say get because I would like to improve my knight chess vision over time.

Karowyn,

I learned the value of the knights from Jeremy Silman's books, including The Amateur's Mind and How to Reassess Your Chess.

There are so many books I need to get. I have looked at Reassess Your Chess, someone I know said he jumped up 200 FIDE rating after going through that book.

Karowyn,

I think it's a great book, but if you have another general middlegame/strategy book, you might not need to get it right away. It is really good though. It was one of my first chess books.
