After ...Rh8 I can play Re7!! and then Nxg6

I assume this is what you mean. This certainly looks better for black than 23 ..Rg7.
Agreed (although White is still clearly better). Most beautiful games are created after the opponent makes a huge mistake under pressure. It happens.
