My first successfule Sacrifice- What do you think?

I've had plenty of unsuccessful sacs in many many games (also known under the less endearing term "blunder" but I like to think I had a plan, it was just ruined by better opponents). This is my first successful one and I would love to see what the chess pros who post on this site think of this game. (I play white).

um... 12. Nf5# ?

lol. Nice win though.

29.d4? not only lost a pawn, but improved Black's king position. 29..Kf1 Kc4 30.Ke2+- keeps out Black's king. In the game 37...g5?, should have been 37...b3 38.axb3 a3 winning. Going back to 32...a5 33.Ke1? try 33.Be8. If 33...Kc4 34.Ke2 a4 35.Kd2 b3 36.axb3+ Kxb3 (axb3 37.Kc1) 37.Bxb5 a3 38.Kd3 with Bc4 wins for White. If 33...Kc3 34.Bxb5 Kb2 35.Bc4 a4 36.f4 b3 37.Bxb3 axb3 38.axb3 Kxb3 39.g4 wins. Check this yourself as it was human analysis without a board.

Well played attack. I agree that d4 was not best. Also move 37 don't take the pawn, this throws the game away, as black queens after ... b3 (axb3 a3!)

And yes good mate! Nf5 noted above! I had to look again :-)

Greenlaser, Ozzie - you guys are totally right about the endgame (the weakest part of my game). I saw that I totally blew the pawn race but he also made a couple of mistakes that allowed me to recover. Thanks for the feedback about alternative moves, very instructive, even when I was putting the game in I didn't see 17 Ne6+ or 20 Qxc5

At about 2 am, I wanted to make 17.Ne6+ work. I saw fxe6 18.dxe6 Bf6 and wanted to play Qh6+, but it wasn't legal yet. Later, of course, 20.Qxc5 is overwhelming. tonydal wrote, "Not sure why he didn't play 25... Kxc6." How about 26.Bd5+ Kxd5 27.d7 winning both rooks or 26...Kxd6 27.Bxa8 Rxa8 28.e8/Q winning both rooks. So, 27...Re8 28.Bb7 a5 29.Rc1 Rxe7 30.Bc6+ and Bxb5 with an extra pawn, but opposite bishops.

In moves 43 and 44, you started to move your king away from all the pawns, where everything was going on.  Remember that your king is an important piece in the endgame and that you should use it.

Yes, you missed a win by KO with 12.Nf5, but you still won. A win is a win. Good game.

 Hm...yeah actually, I didn't see 18... Bf6.  But I still think White can come out on top:  19 e7+ Bxe7 20 Qe6 Qe8 21 Rae1 Bf6 22 Qd5 Ne5 23 f4.

Also, I think Black can prevent loss after 25... Kxc6 26 Bd5+ Kxd5 27 d7 with 27... Rhe8.

I thought 17.Ne6+ would be good, but I was tired and wanted to look at the ending instead. 25...Kxc6 is right and 26.Bd5+ isn't good, so 26.e8/Q+ is forced.
