now before i go any further i must say that this guy is a friend of mine, and we ve played probably 30 or 40 games on chess.com and while i got close to winning once, and drew him once, i have never ever beaten him.   until now!

What a great tactical game on your part. It's nice to beat a higher ranked player every now and then. Great job!

Good game.  You slipped past his defenses nicely.  The e5 knight was the key.
MapleDanish
you really pounded a pretty strong player... give yourself a pat on the back, and then get used to him pounding you again ;).

Congrats, that's a real accomplishment. The notes are good, too. I'll spend some time going over this match...hopefully I'll learn something Wink

I like the notes, congratulations

Ha good game. Congratz!

Maybe his 10th move was a tad inaccurate allowing your rook to go to c1 with a tempo (after the series of pawn captures). g4 doesn't look like it gets anything accomplished either :/

Very nice game, and interesting notation. congrats!

He didn't play like a 2000+ player.  His king was never safe, coming out of the opening.   Congrats on your sustained pressure and attack!  You deserved to win!

Was that game rated? Because if it was not then it does not matter if u beat him or not.

it does matter, just dont countfor the ranking system.

Instead of providing protection it seems as if your opponents pawn positioning restriced his mobility around the board and you eventually broke through it very effectively. Good use of the queen and dark-squared bishop. I personally don't like pawns positioned like that...

it does not count because he could be play with him letting him win.

no one wants to lose. also, if he wasn't playing a rated game, that could be because their ratings were so different and he didn't want to run the risk of dropping dramatically in ratings.  way to rain on his parade.

a well played game, colle

very good game. you were playing your best that day

Can someone please tell me why on earth he did the positionally disadvantageous, tempo-losing 14... Nxf8 and not 14... Rxf8, which, as far as I see, is perfectly viable since his rook had moved anyway, rendering him incapable of O-O.
