(It was unfortunate that an undercover knight agent caught wind of the "checkmating" knight and prevented the tragedy)
The other time an opponent of mine "checkmated" me in the following position (simplified version, the actual arrangement of the non-important pieces was different), thinking he had won a much higher rated player.

What's with 6. Nc3?
I would have played 6. Nxe5 (although the computer says 6. Bf7+ is even better).
