If it were black's turn, this position would be a draw by stalemate. But, it's white's turn and white must eventually checkmate black.

Good luck solving this puzzle.

qf4 if takes then g5 if he pushes g6-g6-g8=q and it's checkmate

if he takes the g5 pawn then f6 and then if he takes e7-e8=q checkmate

if he pushes instead of taking the f6 pawn then just f7-f8=q and it's also checkmate

Off topic, but it is nice!

Tip - you can create puzzles using the diagram editor.

Took me a couple of tries to solve.

You can actually play the move you did first - I found it leads to a longer mate! (see the sideline in my puzzle diagram above).

24… Nd2+ ! Or 24… Nh2+! Would have been nice try

This does not have a unique solution, unless you ask to find mate in six.

Correct - I mentioned that and included it in the diagram.

True. I was annoyed at that.

Indeed! Nh2+is equally good. But Nxe1 was enough to get a resignation even though it was a mere rook.

please stop playing the wayward queen attack. and if you must, don't blunder your queen on the seventh move

The key move here is 11.e6!, which opens up the black king and forces it to lose castling rights or the knight.
