What if your opponent doesn't take the rook? Presumably checkmate isn't forced?? It doesn't matter a massive amount, because white is winning anyway.

Yeah, it isn't forced, but it was a rook sacrifice with a forced mate AFTER it. If knight doesn't take the rook, so what? I got an extra pawn and I was a rook up and a rook-over-minor piece advantage.
This is from a game i have just played. A beautiful forced checkmate sacrificing the rook. Quite easy it must be, if i could see it in a game, but whatever, try it out ^^
