Has anyone else got s queen sacrifice game? I would love to hear one!

Game of the Century, 1956 Byrne-Fischer, 0-1 that is my favorite game that has a queen sacrifice

38.Qxd8+ Kg7 39.Nf5+ and White may survive. 38.Nxc2 is certainly a mistake.

Qc2+ is a check though.

For me it was brilliant happy.png

37. .. Qc2+ is already going for a checkmate even if sacrifice wouldnt have been accepted. But queen sac still looks cool.

maybe thats why it wasnt marked as brilliant. since it's not a gamechanger. result is the same in either cases.

Nice game. No huge blunders

the queen sac wasn't labeled as brilliant because if you look like three moves ahead it's pretty obvious that white gets mated... Engines label brilliant moves basically at random, or at least that's how we humans see it.

What game is it?

Avatar of chamo2074

It wasn't marked as brilliant because it's a mate in two moves... Engine is like yeah thats easy to find

Nice move. I thought white had complete control of the game until 34. f4. but what do I know

Avatar of checkmator11111

Yes. 33. Kg1 is a lot better.

Try Polgugaevsky-Nezhmetdinov, 1958.

Beautiful game! It seemed like White had an advantage, but you created counterplay very nicely, and found a very stylish combo!

Correct

It's an obvious queen sac that is why.  Before I looked at the game, I thought it might have been a horizon issue, but no. Just an obvious sac so not brilliant. Just sharp.

So what happens after Rd6?
